Pakistan objects PM Modi’s statement on Kashmir, terms it “misleading and baseless”

Pakistan has strongly objected to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks made during the inauguration of the Vande Bharat Express train in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir.

AhlulBayt News Agency: During the event, PM Modi had blamed Pakistan for the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam — a comment that drew sharp criticism from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which issued a statement late Friday night calling the remarks "misleading and baseless."

In its official statement, Pakistan's Foreign Office said that Prime Minister Modi’s comments were part of a deliberate attempt to “malign Pakistan” and “divert international attention from the grave and persistent human rights violations taking place in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).”

The statement further rejected India’s repeated accusations linking Pakistan to the Pahalgam attack, stating that New Delhi had provided “no credible evidence” to support its claims.

It is noteworthy that during the inauguration, PM Modi described the Pahalgam attack as a major assault on "humanity and Kashmiri identity" and suggested it was aimed at inciting communal violence in India.

Reiterating its stance on the Kashmir issue, Pakistan stated that Jammu and Kashmir remains an internationally recognized disputed territory, and its final status must be resolved in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

This development comes amid already strained diplomatic ties between India and Pakistan, further intensifying tensions over the long-standing Kashmir dispute.
